Symposium Description: Are the communities and schools prepared for the "Next Big One" that may devastate our city and leave you without power for communications and water for drinking? What will we do to protect our families, neighbors and schools? Let's discuss how we can develop a community based Wireless Solar Digital Disaster Preparedness Plan utilizing the wireless broadband mesh technology, solar energy, and digital devices such as computers, cell phones, cameras, walkie-talkie, shortwave, etc. to facilitate communications.

The Audubon Center at Debs Park is a working model of a Community Solar Digital Disaster Preparedness Center and a Solar Televillage for remote global communities. The Center is totally powered by solar energy. There is no gas line or sewer connection (the wastewater is treated on site), only water is provided by the local utility. The Center is an example of a "perfect solar marriage" of passive solar, solar thermal and solar PV (electricity). The Symposium will focus on "Developing a Wireless Solar Digital Disaster Preparedness Program" for schools and neighborhoods.
